Run from Ruin

Since I walked in to that dark room I’ll have to walk back out.

I am not a hostage.

Nevertheless, Ego had put her foot in the door to leave it slightly ajar.

Desperately clinging on to those momentary highs, she didn’t have it in her to say her goodbyes.

In contradiction, I caught the voice of His spirit whisper, ‘Shut the door, don’t even leave it slightly ajar. You’ll find your freedom not in your ability to resist but in your decision to flee!’

It was the truth of His word that set me free, He softened my heart to help me obey.

Through the tears and the pain I looked Ego in the eye and told her straight, ‘I’m shutting the door.’

I kept my word.

….so run from all these errors. Instead, chase after true holiness, justice, faithfulness, love, hope, and tender humility. 1 Timothy 6:11 (The Passion Translation)

We all experience times of testing, which is normal for every human being. But God will be faithful to you. He will screen and filter the severity, nature, and timing of every test or trial you face so that you can bear it. And each test is an opportunity to trust him more, for along with every trial God has provided for you a way of escape that will bring you out of it victoriously. 1 Corinthians 10:13 (The Passion Translation)
