It dawned on me last night, that I had been focusing on the dark, rather than keeping my eyes on the light.
It was a tiny change of perspective. A different way of looking at the same situation and the world around me.
How easy is it to do that, to take our eyes off the light? When upsetting news seems to surround us – on social media, general chit chat, at church, in friendship groups, at work. Our peace can begin to become eroded.
God Keeps His Promises
Trust me, over the years I have fought for peace. I do not undervalue the beauty and priceless value of this gift that Jesus promises to us.
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
I believe it to be true, without a shadow of a doubt, that our God keeps His promises. And one of those promises is the gift of peace.
Despite the chaos that at times disturbs our minds, and forces turmoil onto our heart, I know that we can seek God and claim the peace that he promises, as our own.
God’s peace is mine and yours to have.
A Prayer For Peace. Speak it out loud if you wish.
Lord, you promised in the bible, that you give us your peace.
It is written in John “Peace I leave you; my peace I give you”
And today I claim that peace for my own.
Honour your promise now, Lord.
Provide me with your peace from the inside out.
Calm my heart, my mind, my soul.
Protect me and comfort me.
Be with me now and throughout the day I pray.
Thank you, my friend for the times you have upheld me,
The times you have kept me going and the times you have drawn close.
I know you will do it again and meet me right where I am.
In Jesus mighty name I pray.
If life is currently very difficult, peace feels far from you and anxiety is high, if you need help that’s OK and doesn’t make you any less faithful or any less of a Christian.
If you need to it’s OK to:
Pray and go to your doctor.
Pray and take the necessary medication.
Pray and go to therapy.
Pray and ask for support.
