When He Came

Jesus, when He came, didn’t come to blame, to judge or bring shame.

He never came to point the finger, He simply came to be our answer.

For God did not send His Son in to the world to be its judge, but its saviour.

You see, the world was waiting in a tangled up mess, of overwhelming darkness and painful distress.

We had wandered far from Eden, losing our freedom and living only for that feel good feeling.

Jesus, when He came, didn’t come to be exclusive and live secluded with those seen as fit for a king.

He never came to choose His favourites, He simply came for EVERY single one of us.

For God did not send His Son in to the world to save the chosen few, but for ALL the nations that have since then grew.

You see, there is nothing we can do that will make Him love us more. He calls us each by name and loves us as we are.

Jesus, when He came, didn’t come to see us fall in line, to make sure all the boxes are ticked or to repeat bible story rhymes.

He never came to set up a religious tyranny; He modelled the opposite and gave His grace for free.

For God did not send His Son in to the world to ensure the rules are kept but to forgive us when they are not met.

You see, we have all missed the mark, the target of perfection but all you ask is that we show up broken.

You don’t want our religion, you are looking for devotion.

Jesus, when He came, didn’t come to make all things easy, to make sure we would never suffer and ensure a life of comfort.

He never came to do all things for us, but to do all things WITH us.

For God did not send His Son in to the world to take away our problems but to help take us through.

You see, life is sometimes hard and can leave our hearts scarred, but remember His name and the reason why He came: ‘Immanuel’ God with us through all the heartache, through all the pain.

Jesus, when He came, came to save a world that was trapped in lust, lies, selfishness, and pride. Anger, apathy, greed, and envy.

Jesus, born to set His people free.

He came for you and He came for me.

Jesus, His nature divine, gave His life for mine.

He saved us and called us to be his own people, not because of what we have done,
but because of his own purpose and grace.
He gave us this grace by means of Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,
but now it has been revealed to us through the coming of our Savior, Christ Jesus.
He has ended the power of death and through the gospel
has revealed immortal life.
